IF Step Climber is a VNAV step-climb FMC and navigation display companion for Infinite Flight. It flies your vertical profile while you enjoy the view.

Keep the app open and the screen awake while you fly. Android likes to kill background apps to save battery, which can stop the FMC from working — if your phone is aggressive about this, follow the guide for your device at Don't Kill My App.

Beta build. Expect the occasional rough edge, and grab the latest APK from this page whenever there's an update.

Set it up

  1. Install the APK (above).
  2. In Infinite Flight: Settings → General → Enable Infinite Flight Connect. The app can't see the sim without this.
  3. Put the device running the sim and the device running IF Step Climber on the same Wi-Fi network — no mobile data.
  4. Open IF Step Climber. It finds Infinite Flight automatically; if it can't, open Settings in the app and type the sim device's IP address.
  5. Enter your SimBrief username to load your plan, then tap START to hand the vertical profile to the app. Set your in-sim autopilot as it prompts.

Using two devices

The smoothest way to fly: run Infinite Flight on one device and IF Step Climber on a second — a spare phone or tablet — both on the same Wi-Fi. The app stays open on its own screen and manages your climb while you fly.

One device works too. On Android the app keeps running in the background with a notification while you're in Infinite Flight, but a second device is easier: nothing to switch between, and the display is always in view.

Do's & don'ts

Do

  • Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi for the whole flight.
  • Leave Infinite Flight Connect enabled in the sim.
  • Keep the app's screen on and in the foreground while it's flying.
  • Set your in-sim autopilot the way the app prompts.
  • Report anything odd — this is a beta.

Don't

  • Don't use different networks or mobile data — it needs the same LAN.
  • Don't disable Connect or switch Wi-Fi mid-flight.
  • Don't force-close the app or let the device sleep during a climb or descent.
  • Don't hand-fly the vertical profile at the same time.
  • Don't use it for real-world navigation — it's for the simulator only.

iOS

iOS support is not available. IF Step Climber is Android-only for now.
